Nice definitions. They certainly are questions our community should ask in order to close the digital divide amongst our youth. Thanks for sharing that video. It actually shows an interesting timeline from the earlier ages of classroom settings to the 21st century. I liked how the pictures detailed how we started with simply passing notes in class to communicate with each other to now our youth texting using cell phones in class; obviously, teachers are still dealing with the same distraction, it’s just evolved. That’s what my view of the question in the image, “Has anything really changed.” The learning environment is evolving and with the expansion of technology (i.e. cell phones, PCs, cloud computing) our society has shifted to allow our students to, like my father say, “work smarter, not harder." They're the 'digital natives' of our time! :)
The Prezi presentation was really effective. i see the need to learn this as it seems quite more versatile than PowerPoint. As educators we must remember that we can't continue to teach based on what life was like for us. We must teach for what life will be like for our students.
I enjoyed this! Just looking at how the hardware continues to shrink is amazing; we now have more power and speed in half the size. I also like that you list the 21st century skills we should be teaching and learning.
Love the Prezi! Very creative. Yes I feel that our society is starting to move in the right direction in raising children to become critical thinkers. I have attended several workshop on next years Common Core. I feel that this wave a education is taking on that direction. I like the fact that less information will be covered in classes but what is covered with be with a deeper understanding. It will be interesting in the next several years to see if it makes a difference in children becoming better problem solvers.
